Weekly prayers from 2021

Prayer Thoughts for Wednesday 29th December 2021.

Loving God, as once again we bring our prayers to You at the end of another year, we see at this time how everything is still changing.

Again, over the past year sadly, we realise that life is still different.

Caring God, as we step in to the uncertainties of a New Year we ask once more that You will walk closely with each one of us enclosing us in Your caring love, supporting and guiding us to face the challenges ahead.

Amen.

Prayer Thoughts for Wednesday 22nd December 2021.

A ray of hope flickers in the sky.

A tiny star lights up way up high.

All across the land dawns a brand new morn.

This comes to pass when a child is born.

Our God of compassion and care,

At this season of Advent we have, as always, feelings of anticipation as we approach the Birth of Jesus. We also see the joy and excitement of the little ones as parents and grandparents are busy in practical ways. However, we ask that You help us to remember and think of the many who are sad and alone and that we should care for them in their situations.

We pray that You will be close to all Your children.

Amen.

Love came down at Christmas

Love all lovely, Love Divine

Love was born at Christmas,

Star and angels gave the sign.

Prayer Thoughts for Wednesday 15th December 2021

Loving God, You understand the depths of pain and sadness into which we are sometimes plunged. Be with all those who have to face bereavement, depression and despair. In our darkest moments please draw us out from getting lost within ourselves, and help us to still respond to the needs of others around us

Amen.

Prayer Thoughts for Wednesday 8th December 2021

Gracious God, at this season of Advent, a time of anticipation, warmth and hope we once again ask that You will walk very closely with us as our lives are now tinged with further concern throughout the world.

We pray that all will be sensible and caring as we are facing serious changes in the spread of a new variant, remembering everyone involved in the work of our important health service. Loving God, we have the privilege of Your love enfolding us. You are before us and behind.

Amen

Prayer Thoughts for Wednesday 1st December 2021.

Gracious God, We give grateful thanks, as always, for the freedom to worship as we wish which is a great blessing. We realise that we have an even more important freedom that You give us through Your Son, Jesus. Jesus came to earth so that we could know You and make it possible for us to enjoy a strong and loving relationship with You.

We also treasure the privilege of taking our prayers of care and concern to You each day.

Amen.

Prayer Thoughts for Wednesday 24th November 2021

Loving God, We ask You to help people anywhere, who must live apart, to know that they are together here in our hearts.

At this time, even though perhaps some loved ones may be miles away, we remember them in our prayers to You.

Caring God, our thoughts are with so many who are grieving for family or friends. We have felt such sadness, but are ever grateful for the happy memories we can share.

Amen.

Prayer Thoughts for Wednesday 17th November 2021

An Irish Blessing

May love and laughter light our days and warm our hearts and homes.

May good and faithful friends be ours wherever we may roam.

May peace and plenty bless our world, with joy that long endures.

May all life’s passing seasons bring the best to each and everyone.

Caring and loving God, we ask Your blessing on all who have gone before.

We pray that we can accept and understand as we love and miss them so…….

Amen.

Prayer Thoughts for Wednesday 10th November 2021

Loving Heavenly Father, another year has gone by, and now we especially bring our prayers to You for peace.

Once again we give You thanks for all members of the Armed Forces throughout the world as they strive constantly for safety in many countries.

However, this is also a time of remembering as we join together in Acts of Remembrance for those who gave their lives for each one of us here now.

Loving God, we ask for Your blessing on them and their families who lost so much.

Amen.

Prayer Thoughts for Wednesday 3rd November 2021.

Loving God,

At this time of intense concern which has been taken to the conference of COP 26, we think of the future of all ages.

We naturally have in our thoughts the children and young people, many of whom are being made aware of the seriousness of the present situation. We bring each one of them to You in our prayers as we ask Your blessing and wisdom on every discussion and decision in the weeks, months and years to come.

Amen.

Prayer Thoughts for Wednesday 27th October 2021

God of care and compassion

We know that You want us to pray, to spend time with You as we bring every prayer of concern to You.

However hard prayer may seem at times, however reluctant we may be to pray, we do remember loving God that You have placed the gift of prayer into our hearts.

At this time we especially ask for Your presence in all that takes place at the forthcoming COP 26 Conference as many countries meet to act on their concerns within Your world.

Our caring and compassionate God we feel Your love for us and that You ask nothing in return but our love.

Amen.

Prayer Thoughts for Wednesday 20th October 2021

Loving and Caring God,

We bring our troubled world before You at this time of tragedy near to home and beyond.

Our prayers are full of sadness for how cruel life can be, but we know that You are a God of compassion.

We remember those who have lost loved ones and all who are injured or traumitised by circumstances of destruction.

As we bring our prayers to You we think of the ongoing work of all in the National Health Service with the increase of Covid-19 at the moment.

We ask that You walk closely with each one of us.

Amen.

Prayer Thoughts for Wednesday 13th October 2021

Let nothing dismay us,

Let nothing disturb us.

All things pass.

God never changes.

Let us remember that patience gains

All that it has wished for.

We who have God

Have everything.

God alone is sufficient.

Amen,

Prayer Thoughts for Wednesday 6th October 2021

Caring and compassionate God, You know our every thought and realise that it is hard for us to hold on to faith, when life is difficult and things are frightening. Many situations can trigger doubt, anything that raises questions concerning Your presence, Your power, Your compassion, and Your care for us all. We think of the times that we have lifted our hands and hearts to heaven and cried out to You.

But, loving God, we truly know that Your love for us is constant and everlasting.

Amen.

Prayer Thoughts for Wednesday 29th September 2021

Let us reflect that – Time is too slow for those who wait,

– too fast for those who are afraid,

– too long for those who grieve,

– too short for those who rejoice,

– but for those who love, time is eternity.

Loving God, walk closely with us now, and always.

Amen.

Prayer Thoughts for Wednesday 22nd September 2021.

Loving God, we thank You for the pleasure of friendship. We realise that true friends are precious gifts making life better in a way that nothing else can. Old friends reminisce with us then new friends bring to us their stories, experiences and interests. Friends are the people who are walking beside us and sharing the times of our lives with us. Let us hold them close in our hearts, treating them with special care, praying for them often and let them know how much they mean to us.

As we bring this prayer to You, caring God, we are remembering how many of our families and friends are no longer with us at this time. We ask for Your blessing on each one.

Amen.

Prayer Thoughts for Wednesday 15th September 2021

If we ever feel that God is not right there beside us it is only because He has gone ahead to build a bridge to keep us safe from harm and lead us forward to the light shining through.

Let us bring before our gracious God the many we have loved and lost over the last months and years. We give grateful thanks for their many blessings in our lives.

Amen.

Prayer Thoughts for Wednesday 8th September 2021.

Let us reflect on these few lines from Galatians 5 v 22-23.

But the Spirit produces love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, humility, and self-control. There is no law against such things as these.

v 25-26

The Spirit has given us life; he must also control our lives. We must not be proud or irritate one another or be jealous of one another.

Loving Lord, we simply ask that You will help us to live this way.

Amen.

Prayer Thoughts for Wednesday 1st September 2021

Loving God, we do realise that every task we tackle, word we speak, action we take, and talent we share paints a picture of who we are. Our pleasant attitude, enthusiasm, and willingness to help others add details that will not be missed by those who know us. And when we give it all with joy and love we have given ourselves. We simply ask Loving God that You will continue to walk with us as we go forward day by day.

Amen.

Prayer Thoughts for Wednesday 25th August 2021

Loving Heavenly Father, we give You thanks that from the moment our eyes open on a new dawning to the time we fall asleep again, each day provides many opportunities for deepening our relationship with You.

May every prayer we bring to You show how with Your help, our days can be times of healing, belonging, laughter and love through the ordinary circumstances of our lives.

Amen.

Prayer Thoughts for Wednesday 18th August 2021.

Loving and caring God, We thank you for continuing to show us that the best we can give to those we love is the gift of our love. Help us to remember to demonstrate that we care for and about them, not with just words, but with actions — those little gestures that mean so much . Perhaps a note that is appreciative of what they do for us — the time we spend with our attention focused on them.

Giving love away never leaves us with less, but enlarges our hearts so they can hold even more. At this time also our hearts are full of concern and compassion for all involved in the dangers in Afghanistan.

Amen.

Prayer Thoughts for Wednesday 11th August 2021

Father in heaven, help us to face any difficulties or problems with faith, grace, humility and clarity, so that we may try to bring many blessings wherever we go.

We ask that we continue to feel You very close and are guided by Your wisdom and compassion in all we attempt to achieve for good, in the future.

Amen.

Prayer Thoughts for Wednesday 4th August 2021

As we bring our prayers to our caring God let us remember that our past experiences have shaped us into the people we are today and the opinions, hopes and dreams that we hold are, in a large part, a response to what has happened to us.

Accept yesterday, because it has been part of our lives, but don’t let it determine tomorrow. We pray to our loving God that He will help us to let go of old thoughts and habits that no longer fit who we want to be and discard what is not working.

Amen.

Prayer Thoughts for Wednesdy 28th July 2021

Loving God, we come to You at times with feelings of weakness where we pray for Your support, wisdom and guidance.

There can be fears, self-doubt and lack of enthusiasm for beginning a project or confronting a situation that is not going to go away no matter how long we attempt to ignore it.

We ask for Your presence and strength if we grasp an opportunity that may hold great promise for us.

We pray that we find You near as we go ahead and take the first step and can be surprised at how easy the next one comes!

Amen.

Prayer Thoughts for Wednesday 21st July 2021

Dear Lord, be with us today and in the days to come. We ask that you give us a sense of Your presence in all that we do. We thank You, as always, for what has been achieved and is past as we now trust You to help us to accept opportunities in the future.

Amen.

Prayer Thoughts for Wednesday 14th July 2021

Loving God, help us to remember that as each day dawns and until we fall asleep in the evening, we have the privilege of deepening our relationship with You.

We can bring our prayers to You in so many situations, such as our morning prayers for others, at times the need to wait patiently, and reflections on using our speech to heal rather than hurt.

Our prayers can show how, with Your guidance, our days can be full of belonging, laughter, caring and love.

Amen.

Prayer Thoughts for Wednesday 7th July 2021.

Gracious God,

We give You thanks for times of relaxation and rest in days of glorious sunshine.

We thank You also for family and friends, as we now manage to meet together over the summer months.

Compassionate God, we remember and think of those who are alone for whatever reason, who may be ill or worried and for whom the sun does not seem to shine.

Bless them and keep each one in Your constant loving care, showing us where we could be needed to make life better for all less fortunate.

Amen.

Prayer Thoughts for Wednesday 30th June 2021.

“If we have the opportunity to make people happy. Just do it.

Sometimes people are struggling silently.

Perhaps, our acts of kindness can make their day.”

Loving God, help us to be aware of the needs of others as we meet friends, or make friends, throughout the weeks and months. We do give prayerful thanks for this time of contact with each other. We ask that we feel You very near in all that we do.

Amen.

Prayer Thoughts for Wednesday 23rd June 2021

Loving God,

Help us to look forward in faith. May we always put our trust in God knowing if we call You will be there, no matter what our needs will be in the days ahead. We give thanks for all Your goodness and guidance in the past. We are mindful of those who find life difficult, and don’t know where to turn. We pray that they will find their way to You. In Jesus’ name hear our prayer.

Amen.

Prayer Thoughts for Wednesday 16th June 2021

” Our hands lift up and are open wide as the eagle soars away………………

Sometimes, we have to do the same. We have to let things go and release them to God who knows and loves us.”

Loving Heavenly Father we bring our prayers for others and for ourselves to You. You are aware of our every need, day by day. We leave our cares with You and ask that You will guide us with wisdom, sense and compassion.

In Jesus Name,

Amen.

Prayer Thoughts for Wednesday 9th June 2021

Loving Lord, at times it is tempting to give up, especially when life is becoming difficult. We ask You to help us not to dwell on past problems or setbacks, but to start again now to look forward with enthusiasm and optimism into the future with You to guide us.

We pray that nothing will disturb or dismay us, as all things pass. Let us remember that God never changes and all who have Him in their lives are secure in His loving care.

Amen.

Prayer Thoughts for Wednesday 2nd June 2021.

Gracious God, we bring these lines of praise in our prayer and pray that soon we shall be able to sing joyfully to You, as before.

” Drop thy still dews of quietness

Till all our strivings cease,

Take from our souls the strain and stress,

And let our ordered lives confess

The beauty of thy peace.”

The Lord gives strength to his people and blesses them with peace.

Psalms 29 v11.

Amen.

Prayer Thoughts for Wednesday 26th May 2021

Lord, we know that today, and days to come, are full of challenges and possibilities.

Help us to believe that we are all capable of many and great “little” things.

Let us pray that we can each approach any difficulty we encounter, not as a cause of irritation and anger, but as a source of understanding and strength.

We bring our prayers to you in the sure knowledge of your constant love and guidance in our lives.

Amen.

Prayer Thoughts for Wednesday19th May 2021.

Gracious God, at this time of concern help us to continue to see the needs of others and realise that are occasions when someone else’s troubles must come before our own.

Loving Lord, open our hearts so that we may do good and show kindness which will bring smiles to the faces of many.

Amen.

Amen

Prayer Thoughts for Wednesday 5th May 2021

Heavenly Father, we know that You are with us at all times, in sorrow, in sickness, in happiness and joy. You hold us in Your loving arms when the world appears unstable and uncertain.

We give You grateful thanks that slowly we are able to meet family and friends once more. You will know how hard it has been for each one of us not to be allowed to open our doors, in welcome, as we would normally do. We bring prayers to You also of how much we would wish that churches can be as they were, where we can praise You in prayer, music and singing, with hearts overflowing as we worship together.

Amen.

Loving God, We continue to bring our prayers for others to you.

God of compassion, we bring our prayers of gratitude to You as we look in wonder at the splendor of Your creation. We have the warmth of the sun when skies are blue, the necessity of gentle rain at times. Day by day, week by week we are conscious of the beauty around us as trees and bushes bud and grow, with flowers bringing colour in to our lives.

Caring God, as we appreciate all that You give us daily, we ask You to help us to have the strength and enthusiasm to also be renewed in various efforts in our lives to go forward to work for You and to walk in Your ways, as You would wish.

Compassionate Lord, we ask that you walk closely with us today, may we have a sense of Your loving presence in all that we do.

At this time we remember especially the good people of Dunblane, as their hearts will be full of the sadness and terror of twenty five years ago. We pray for the little ones and their teacher who were killed, and for those injured.

However, we can also give You thanks for the blessings of happy memories although time was short.

We prayerfully leave the town of Dunblane and their memories in Your tender care.

Together with a mind that forgets the bad,

And a soul that never loses faith.”

May we always aim to live each day bringing grateful prayers to our loving Lord, for the happiness and hope we do receive.

Amen.

Prayer Thoughts for Wednesday 10th February 2021

Caring and compassionate Lord we, as always, bring our grateful prayers of thanks to you. God is in control

God is love

He will lead us,

Nourish us,

Protect us and

Restore us.

Prayer Thoughts for Wednesday 6th January 2021

Gracious God, What will we do with the year that has begun? The choice we know is ours. You leave that to us. May we today prayerfully accept the challenges and the possibilities of the year that lies ahead.

We do realise, Gracious God, that we cannot do this alone. We ask You to be close to each one of us and guide Your unsure people as we at times are afraid during the days, weeks and months of this uncertain time. We pray that we shall feel Your constant love surrounding us all.

Amen.
